Scrumboard - An Effective and Efficient way of handling Work Packages

Scrumboards are an important and effective way to maintain clarity in Scrum projects. Scrumboards depict the progress of the team during a particular sprint. By using Scrumboards, all team members can concentrate on their respective tasks. Each task is represented as a Workpackage in Vabro. A Scrumboard contains three columns to indicate the progress of the estimated tasks for the Sprint:

To Do’ column – This column is for tasks not yet started and needs to be completed. The Scrum Master can further break the Work Packages into tasks to be done during the sprint and allocte each task to a team member.

‘In Progress’ column – This column is for tasks that are started and are being worked on by a Scrum team member. Information from the ‘To Do’ column are generally moved to this column during the Daily Stand-up meeting by the team member who intends to work/are allotted on the task. The Scrum Master keeps track of all tasks being worked upon by seeing the Scrumboard in the Vabro tool.

‘Done’ column – All tasks that have been successfully completed will be listed in this column. The members who have successfully completed their respective allocated tasks can move on to next available task or take assistance from the Scrum Master to allocate another under their name.

Scrumboard essentially is a very important feature to aid in efficiency as it removes redundancy in work. Team members have a clear lookout on who is working on what aspect of the sprint. Vabro makes Scrumboard an easy glance feature which helps team members to plan their work in advance to ensure that the team stays on track without any issues.

Prioritized Product Backlog - The gateway for faster Project Completion

In any given project, required features are described in the form of User Stories. User Stories are specific requirements outlined by various business stakeholders as they pertain to the proposed product or service. Vabro helps teams to allot User Stories to particular members in a team. Each User Story will have associated User Story Acceptance Criteria which are objective components by which a User Story’s functionality is judgedAcceptance Criteria are developed by the Product Owner that a team member has to achieve to adjudge the User Story as success. Acceptance Criteria should explicitly outline the conditions that User Stories must satisfy. Vabro helps lay down all these features for simple and clear work allocation.

At the end of each Sprint, the Product Owner uses these criteria to verify the completed deliverables; and can either accept or reject individual deliverables and their associated User Stories. If deliverables are accepted by the Product Owner, then the User Story is considered Done. A clear definition of Done is critical because it helps clarify requirements and allows the team to adhere to quality norms. It also helps the team think from the user’s perspective when working with User Stories. Vabro lays down the definition of done along with the requirements that allows the team to adhere to established norms.

User Stories corresponding to rejected deliverables are added back to the Updated Prioritized Product Backlog during Refine Prioritized Product Backlog Process, to be completed in future Sprints. The rejection of few individual deliverables and their corresponding User Stories is not a rejection of the final product or product increment. The product or product increment could be potentially shippable even if a few User Stories are rejected. All these tasks are sorted in the Vabro tool. The Product Owner, Scrum Master, and the Scrum Team can look forward to these guidelines in the Vabro tool and clear the User Stories, leading to a successful Project completion and delivery.
